How Do You Take a Broken Past and Make It Whole?
I wish I could remember what led me to this treasure, the book that has given me hope. Every page is like a cool drink of water on a hot summer day. While it’s the simplest of theories, it’s not something one automatically locks into. Steps have to be taken. Doors have to be opened. Most importantly, the desire to heal from any trauma has to be there.
This is my copy, well-used and well-loved.
The Secret taught me about The Power of Positive Thinking. It taught me that thoughts are things and what you focus on you create. By focusing on my past, I was giving it oxygen and keeping it alive. Change wasn’t possible because I allowed the past to become a hitching post instead of a guidepost to a better today and beyond.
Banishing my past became easy once I realized it was merely a steppingstone and not a place I was destined to live in forever. It’s like walking up a flight of stairs. You can’t get to the top until you start at the bottom. And when you reach the top, a new relationship awaits – one with yourself. Lesson learned.
