We Are Never Too Old and it’s Never Too Late

I was probably 9 years old here, with my little brother by my side. From what I was told by my extended family, problems with my mother were already surfacing. I was an independent child, but I needed a mom who was never there for me. We never bonded, and I resented her coldness.

As a result, I became a difficult and angry child and that just pushed the two of us further apart. The separation never healed. I spent my life searching for the closeness and acceptance I never experienced as a child, and I barely survived the struggle.

BUT I DID SURVIVE.

We all have a path. Some are not as lucky as me, because I’m still here to build the life I want.

It’s a joy and a privilege to be 77 and still be able to create and build a future. I look at fabulous women in their 80s+, women who are vibrant members of society and who get up every morning with a purpose and excitement for life. I can be that woman.

I want all women, regardless of their past or their age, to understand that we can still grab the reins of our lives and create an amazing future.

We are never too old and it’s never too late.
